Studio

i always wanted to make things.

I grew up curious. I wanted to draw, paint, make pictures of the things in my head. But I was a sporty kid in a sporty world, and that's the side that got encouraged. The drawing never really developed. After a while, I stopped trying.

I'm neurodivergent and dyslexic. I learn by doing, seeing and pulling things apart. Traditional ways of learning to make art never quite fit how my brain works. So for a long time, the ideas stayed ideas.

Then the tools changed.

Digital painting, AI, editing software, music tools. Suddenly I could get what was in my head out into the world, and then keep working on it until it was right. Not shortcuts. Ways in.

the hidden edit is what happened when I started making things again.

It's a studio in Melbourne, and it's just me. I make prints you can live with. I make photographic work through a queer lens. I made a fictional boy band, with songs and a history and everything. I'll make other things too. Probably a book. Maybe a film.

The name means two things. The first is the parts of yourself you edit out to fit in. I did plenty of that. The second is the edit itself, the thousand small choices no one sees. Redraw it. Try again. Not that one. That's where the work actually happens, and it's the part I love most.

Creativity was always there. I just didn't have the tools to reach it.

Now I do.

In the hidden we are found.
